The TF35 high-performance one-design foiling catamaran racing will resume this week in one of the circuit’s favourite venues. Malcesine, on the beautiful shores of Lake Garda, in northern Italy, will host the final two TF35 events of the 2023 season.

Returning for a second year thanks to the support of the local team at Fraglia Vela Malcesine the venue is perfect for the TF35 as it offers flat water with the moderate to strong “Ora” breeze that blows from the south in the afternoon – the ideal scenario for racing foiling catamarans at top speed.

Currently leading the fleet Realteam Sailing's bowman Benjamin Amiot said his team if feeling pretty good to be back on the water: "We've been working with two new crew members since the start of the week. The aim is  to try and sail like we did at the start of the season. We're going try to relax into what we know how to do, without asking ourselves too many questions, and we'll assess our performance at the end of the week.

"Even if we're a little ahead in the rankings, the level of the fleet has tightened considerably this year. We're still keeping an eye on what's going with the closest boats in the fleet, but the priority is on ourselves and giving it our best shot. The conditions look perfect for this weekend, and we're looking forward to getting back into the competition."

Stand out team so far this season Bertrand Demole's Ylliam XII - Comptoir Immobilier has impressively built on the lessons learnt last year to find there consistency in the results this year as Billy Besson explains: "Last year, the recovery in Malcesine was very difficult for the team. So for this year we had a good break in July, then resumed training in Geneva at the end of July and beginning of August. For this event we're going to focus on our boat, on our perfomance and our boat handling, so that we can tackle the second half of the season in the best possible way and do everything we can to maintain our level of performance."

Tomorrow (Thursday) practice day will start the day with racing proper taking place in the afternoon until Sunday with up to five races per day.
