The TF35 Nyon Cup was due to get underway today under overcast and stormy skies. However at the 11:30 skippers briefing at the Société Nautique de Nyon it was announced that a weather waning was in place and the day would have to be cancelled.

"We're expecting an turbulent storm situation according to Météo Suisse," explains Erwan Israel, tactician on board Ylliam XII - Comptoir Immobilier. "We already saw a few storms yesterday. Today, we've got warm air coming in from the south. Thunderstorms are already brewing in France at the moment and they're going to arrive here with potentially very violent squalls. There are strong winds aloft, with gusts of up to 100km/h expected. The police are warning people to be careful and recommending that they do not take part in any outdoor activities, so cancelling the day is the only possible solution for today.

Tomorrow should be a milder day, allowing the TF35 Nyon Cup to get going. The crews are expected to attend the morning briefing at 10am and the first start of the five possible races is scheduled at 11.30am.
