After a week of training on the Bay of Scarlino in Tuscany, the seven TF35 teams are ready for the first official day of points scoring racing tomorrow, Thursday, 9 September.
Hosted by Yacht Club Isole di Toscana, the racecourse will be set directly in front of Marina di Scarlino offering a spectacle of foiling to the holidaymakers and residents on the coastal side of Mount Alma.
"The TF35's have been attracting the interest of local sail-lovers since their arrival a few days ago," explains Claudia Tosi, Yacht Club Isole di Toscana Secretary-General. "Fast, flying machines like these have never been seen here before, so they are creating a real excitement. All eyes will be on the racecourse from the beaches.
"Our gulf cannot wait to host TF35 racing. I am pretty sure teams would love our coastline and the sheltered gulf, with Elba Island as a background", Tosi adds.
Tomorrow's format will be two practice starts from 12:00 CEST followed by three official point-scoring races from 14:30CEST. With a mild microclimate sailors can expect dry, breezy and warm conditions with a predominantly west to the southwesterly prevailing seabreeze.
Spectators will get a good view of the racing anywhere on the beach between the Marina di Scarlino and the town of Follonica or can follow the racing online via the live TracTrac app HERE or on the tf35.org website homepage. Updates from the team on the water and results are available on the class social media channels @TF35Class and @TF35Trophy.
