The forecast for this weekend’s TF35 Geneva Grand Prix has looked difficult from the outset, and today the lack of breeze proved decisive. After spending seven hours on the water yesterday to complete three races, the TF35 fleet was left waiting on a completely still Lake Geneva today, with not a breath of wind to be found.
“It was a long day of waiting. We knew the weather conditions were complicated, and the only windows of opportunity we were hoping for never materialised. So the day was cancelled,” explains Matthieu Ravussin, headsail trimmer aboard Sails of Change 8.
“When you have to wait all day, you try to stay focused, prepare the boat, eat and drink properly, and pass the time by talking. But we’re here to race, so naturally it’s quite frustrating not to be able to sail. Tomorrow’s forecast is complicated, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll be able to race,” he adds.
The fleet will return to the lake tomorrow for the final day of the 2026 season. The forecast suggests that conditions could become sailable during the afternoon, with a breeze expected to develop from around 14:00.
And there is plenty still at stake. With just six points separating the seven teams in the overall standings, the championship remains finely poised going into the final day.
